The device is best used on clean, dry hair. We understand many people will be using topicals alongside the device and it isn't always practical to wash your hair daily. As a rule of thumb, we recommend that the hair is not visibly greasy, and no thickening fibres, oils, gels, leave in conditioner, hairline powders etc. are applied as these will block the light from penetrating the skin effectively.

If you have hair extensions, please speak with your hair specialist who installed them for advice before using the Dual Headband. Depending on the type of extensions there is a possible risk of:
- Feeling heat on treated extension area
- Could affect, damage, or loosen extensions
- Could cause irritation to the skin

It is fine to use the device on bleached or permanently coloured hair, this does not affect the treatment as long as the dye has been thorougly cleaned from the scalp. Temporary or wash-out hair dye that coats the hair without washing are not suitable as they can block the light.

Generally speaking, the Dual Headband can be used with Minoxidil and Finasteride however we do recommend reading the full list of contraindications and seeking advice from your prescribing doctor before using the Dual Headband.
